This Restoration Pro Tries a Water Spraying System for Use While Wet Sanding and an All-Purpose Lubricant.
Dura-Block Pro Stream Wet Sanding Sprayer
Although I’ve often stressed the need, or desire, to wet sand everything from urethane primers to urethane clear coats, the one thing I haven’t shown you is a neat little tool I use for wet sanding: It’s the Dura-Block Pro Stream Wet Sanding Sprayer.
This handy little gadget attaches to any garden hose and provides a fine spray of water over the surface being sanded. It comes with a shutoff valve and two suction cups to hold the sprayer in any position desired.
The Wet Sanding Sprayer eliminates the need for water buckets, which tend to collect all types of nasty little particles you don’t want on your fresh clear coats for fear of leaving scratches, as well as sponges, which also tend to collect those nasty little things you don’t want on your fresh finish, or spray bottles that always need refilling.
The Wet Sanding Sprayer simply delivers clean water for cleaner sanding as it also washes away the sanding residue. That, in turn, extends the life of the sandpaper and helps keep your shoes dry.
The sprayer is available through numerous parts suppliers including Eastwood, where it’s part #21502 ($9.99).

Jig-A-Loo Lubricant
I’m always on the lookout for better lubricants. I need a product that is a rust inhibitor, will not freeze or thicken in cold weather and, most of all, won’t stain the carpet or trim should I get carried away with the application. Jig-A-Loo fits that bill.
Since this product contains no oil, grease, wax or detergent, it is safe to use around the shop.
The makers also claim Jig-ALoo is perfect for lubricating guns, knives, fishing reels, stuck backpack zippers, door hinges, bolts, sticky wheels, retractable legs on your golf bag and boat winches.
Jig-A-Loo also makes tires shiny. Yep, I tried that and it works great.
It also works great as a coating for wheels to reduce brake dust accumulation.
Jig-A-Loo has been used in commercial and industrial applications since 1958, but has only recently been available to the mass market.
Jig-A-Loo is available at most automotive parts stores, home improvement centers, hardware stores and most mega stores for about $7.
As for the uncommon product name, the Canadian manufacturer says that when the product inventor finally came up with the formula he wanted in 1958, he exclaimed “Ti-gidou!” which the company says is a French-Canadian expression that loosely translates as “I’ve got it!”
They started working with that as a potential product name and came up with Jig-ALoo, with the “Loo” being a nod toward the word “lubricant.”
