Help me identify this headlight

Question:

Is this 6-V headlight valuable? It looks to be original, from my 1951 Willys Jeep station wagon. The magnifying lens in the center is unusual and it has no aiming posts. I cannot find anything about it.

Answer:

Well, Auto Restorer readers, does anybody recognize this headlight? It sure doesn’t look correct for a typical American car from 1951. However, it is a sealed beam and most European cars didn’t use sealed beam headlights at that time. Could it have been a replacement for a European headlight much like the sealed beam replacement kits that were used on American cars in the ’30s?

This headlight looks European, but it is a sealed beam made in the U.S.
