Help me find a wiring diagram for my truck

November 1, 2012 | By Richard Prince

Question:

I just bought another truck (a 1998 Chevy half-ton, long bed extended cab) for a very good price.

I couldn’t pass it up.

My old truck is a 1989 Chevy three quarter-ton long bed with a 350 V-8/400 transmission. My plans are to take the engine (throttle body fuel injection) and trans and install that combo into a 1955 Chevy big back window pickup truck.

I want to strip the wiring harness with brain and AC unit from the 1989. The problem is I tried to go to my local library, online and the repair manual I have for the 1989 to find a wiring diagram, but have had no luck.

So I need your help in finding a wiring diagram for a 1989 Chevy truck with air and electric fuel pump in the tank. Any help would surely be appreciated.

Answer:

There are a number of different places where you can find wiring diagrams for your 1989 Chevrolet Pickup truck. One of the best sources is the “1989 C-K Pickup Truck Electrical Diagnosis and Wiring Diagrams” book, which was published by General Motors.

This book is no longer in print but copies are readily available at larger swap meets, on eBay and other online auction sites, and from automotive literature dealers such as Walter Miller (autolit. com), Ken McGee Auto Literature (kenmcgeeautobooks.com), and McLellans Automotive Literature (mclellansautomotive.com).
