One way to check a fuel gauge

Question:

Regarding Greg Child’s 1966 Chrysler 300 fuel gauge, the way to check the system is to connect a test light to the wire at the sending unit and touch the other end of the test light to a good ground. The test light should light up, telling you that the voltage limiter is getting power and the wiring is working fine. Now check the sending unit with an ohm meter and move the float up and down. You should get a variable reading. If all this checks out you may need a new ground strap to the sending unit.
