Membership in the Heritage Club is open to anyone who meets one of the following requirements:

An owner who has had one or more Volvos for at least 10 consecutive years. An owner whose Volvo has more than 100,000 original miles. Any owner who was a member of the former Volvo High Mileage Club.

The company said that origins of the Volvo High Mileage Club date back to the 1960s when car medallions for 100,000-mile increment achievements began appearing on older Volvos.

Upon acceptance into the Heritage Club, a member will receive a club medallion to display on their vehicle. Medallions will be issued for 10, 15, 20 and 25 consecutive years of ownership and mileage milestones of 100,000 to 500,000 miles, 750,000 and one million miles. A Baltimore area resident, Selden Cooper, recently reached the million-mile plateau with his 1987 Volvo 240 sedan, and well-known, super-long-term Volvo driver Irv Gordon of Long Island has now traveled some 2.97 million miles in his 1966 Volvo P1800.
