Removing scratches on windshield from windshield wipers

Question:

The windshield in my 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport is lightly scratched from the windshield wipers. Is there any way to get these scratches out or do I have to replace the windshield?

Answer:

If the scratches in your wind* shield are very light, you can polish them out with a polish that is specifically formulated for glass. I caution you, however, that the area polished will have a slight depression that will distort your view. So if the scratch is in your line of sight you are better off replacing the windshield. You are also better off. If the scratches are deep or extensive with a new windshield because it will take a tremendous amount of time to polish them out and you will wind up with large areas that distort your view of the outside world.
