I’m getting glare from my wipers

Question:

The wipers and wiper arms on my 1965 Chevy pickup are chrome and they are always reflecting glare from the sun up into my eyes. Where can I get flat black wipers and wiper arms for the ’65? So far I haven’t found anything except chrome.

Answer:

The easiest solution is probably to refinish the wipers and arms that you already have. You can have the chrome plating stripped off by a chrome shop and then refinish the bare metal with paint or low-glare plating.

In the alternative, you can paint your truck’s wipers and arms without stripping the old chrome off. If you decide to go down this road just make sure that every bit of the chrome has been sanded or (gently) blasted to promote paint adhesion.

If you are philosophically opposed to altering your wiper parts then use others and set your original pieces aside.
