His car stalls when he floors it

Question:

I have a 2000 Mustang GT with a 4speed transmission. Sometimes when I am getting on it (gas to the floor) it will quit on me.

When this happens I have to get off the road, turn off the key, and then turn it back on and the car starts normally. Do you have any idea what is causing this problem? Under normal driving conditions I don’t have any trouble.

Answer:

Various malfunctions could be the cause of your stalling problem. Among the more common are a clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pump, and obstructed fuel injectors. Another possible cause is a defective throttle position sensor.
