Help me identify my transmission

Question:

I’m restoring a 1946 Chevrolet Pickup and I purchased a 1992 Chevy S10 with 23,000 miles. I plan to install the LB4 V6 and 5-speed transmission from the 1992 S10 in the 1946 and I want to know the manufacturer of the 5-speed transmission.

I took the VIN to the local GM dealer’s service department and all they could tell me was it has an MY2 transmission but that is all. There is no tag on the end shaft. The VIN # is 1GCCS14Z2N8205429. Can you help?

Answer:

The MY2 5-speed manual gearbox was made by Borg-Warner. It’s one version among many of the very widely used T5.
