Help for a vintage transistor radio

May 1, 2009 | By Richard Prince

Question:

I have a 1971 Triumph TR6 with a “British Leyland” radio that was actually made by Motorola (#15D41739CO-1). It needs repair. I have found that there are plenty of vintage radio repair shops that work on automotive radios of tube vintage, but I haven’t been able to locate anyone who works on these “modern” sets with transistors. They just aren’t old enough for anyone to care about, or so it seems. I want to keep the original radio with the car. Any suggestions for a shop that repairs radios like this?

Answer:

There are numerous repair specialists who handle transistor automobile radios. These include For Your Listening Pleasure (everythingradio.com) or The Old Radio Shop (vintage radiorepair.com).
