You won’t find that manual

Question:

I am the proud owner of a 1985 Chevrolet El Camino and I have been searching for a shop or service manual that deals exclusively with the El Camino.

If such manuals exist would you please tell me where to locate one? I am beginning to wonder if these manuals are available.

Answer:

From a technical perspective, the El Camino was not a distinct Chevrolet model. It shared the same platform as the Impala, Caprice and Monte Carlo and as such there was one shop manual that covered all of these vehicles.

Helm (helminc.com) published this and you can still buy it from the company under part ST32985 for about $75.

The 1985 Fisher Body Service Manual also has information that pertains to your El Camino and that
manual is also available from Helm.
